Recipe
for Success:
Celebrating
Service
Each
and every one of us on this earth has needs. We need food, shelter
and clothing, companionship. We come in needy and we go out needy.
And one question that seems to cross each and everyone of our minds,
one question that has the capacity to drive or damn, is "Who
am I."
Finding
out who you are is not best discovered by introspection. Self is
not best reflected in the mirror. It is a cosmic trick that the
search for self must be be conducted as far away from the self as
possible.
The
pundits, sages, spiritual leaders have tried to provide tricks in
the form of mantras', prayer, policy or practice to help us lose
sight of ourselves long enough for us to see who we really are.
But we don't need a trick.
Funny,
since the perfect activity for self discovery abounds about us constantly.
The perfect activity is to serve. That is right, be of service,
to someone. And we are in luck because each and every one of us
needs to be served. Why? Because we have needs. Since, we all have
needs, each of us helps create the need for someone to serve.
Serving,
service to others is our opportunity to create something of prime
value: ourselves. Service provides the sense of being somebody by
virtue of you ability to touch another life.
